TESTIMONIALS

Testimonials

"For me, the best part of Mr. Kings presentations are the conversations they inspire after he finishes.  His "stories" always open up subjects that we discuss for hours afterward and he always stays until the end of the evening talking with us."  Oved Diaz-Photographer

"Mr King took took our group on a guided tour to Villa Vizcaya. The villa is a visual feast but Mr King's  details of how life was lived in those surroundings during the 1920's was invaluable as it allowed us to visualize the villa as it was more clearly. For example the drive is now asphalt but he pointed out that back in the day winding drive was made completely of crushed seashells glittering in the sun and the owner had two men whose only job was to rake the drive into geometric designs whenever a car passed through. I highly recommend Mr. King as a guide, he truly has the power to make history come alive." Sally Peters- Talent Manager

"Mr King was able to change, with short notice, the subject of the presentation we had originally asked him to do. The subject was completely different but his wonderful visuals and presentation didn't suffer because of the time constraints, it was as seamless and entertaining as ever. I highly recommend his unique "story telling" abilities."  Andrea Libra- Talent Facilitator

"STORIES" I HAVE TOLD

image4

Some of my recent " story telling" presentations have focused on the following topics.

Havana 1958

A  recreation of  Havana when it was the international playground of movie stars, Cafe society and mobsters. From the Gran Prix to the  lavish nightclubs, bars and hotels, the dolce vita of life before the revolution.

Famous Women of Florida

From Hedy Lamrr to Marjorie Stoneman Douglas, women pioneers from the world of Business, Aviation, Conservation, Literature and Science are revealed.

Villa Vizcaya

The gilded age palazzo of industrialist James Deering and his designer Paul Chalfin is explored. 500 years of art, artisans and craftsman were collected from around the world and transported to an Italian palace in the  jungles of Florida.

The Shepherdess Queen and the Swindle of the Century.

This story involves a Queen, a Cardinal, two court jewelers and a scheming Countess who masterminds a swindle that brings on the French Revolution.

In 1784,  Marie Antoinette is ensconced in her fantasy peasant village at Versailles, totally unaware of the nefarious plot unfolding around her, until, an odd conversation with her jewelers about a five million dollar diamond necklace opens the floodgates to the grandest scam of the 18th century.

PRINCESS AINA AND THE EMERALD PARROT

I have been working all summer on a fictionalized account on the life Princess Alia who was the daughter of a king in what is present day Nigeria. Captured by a rival king Ain 1840 and scheduled for execution at 7 years old she is suddenly rescued by Captian Forbes of the Royal Navy and  taken to England where her name is changed to Sarah Bonett Forbes and Queen Victoria adopts her as her Goddaughter. The touching relationship obetween the Captian , the Queen and the little African Princess without a home during this turbulent time in 19th century history makes for an unforgettable story.

We follow her story from the time of her rescue to the her return  many years later to the find a parrot she lost on that fatefull day

The book is being written for children in the 6 to 12 year age rage.  in collaboration with the Queen of Hearts. I shall say no more.

I hope to publish within this school year

Like all teachers I am a "story teller" by nature. I have taught the "stories " of ancient history from Early Man to the Renaissance for 28 years at Gulliver Academy. It has been a rewarding career.

Educational Awards:

The Centennial Honor Roll of Outstanding American Teachers 2005/2006

Triple recognition in Who's Who among American Teachersr

2002 Definitive Edition

2004/2005 edition

2005/2006 edition

Two time recipient of the Deaver Foundation- Excellence in Teaching Award 2003 and 2005

My lecture series started four years ago when a parent suggested that I should teach my course in ancient history to adults. I arranged such a talk and the public was overwhelming receptive. I was very honored and humbled and since then I have been busy doing presentations for the public.

 Everyone loves a great story!

My vision

image9

I am a story teller. As an educator I have brought the glittering labyrinth of history  to life for my students and adults alike.

My goal is to expand the horizons of my fellow travelers by taking them through the historical labyrinths of  human experience. From the scandals of the courts of Europe to the complicated lives of artists and inventors to the architectural wonders of the world and the men and woman who inspired them, all are wating to be explored.

I would also like to help people create their own 21st century Salons, gathering friends for an evening of enlightened conversation on subjects introduced by topics of their choosing. I humbly offer myself as your guide.
